Our total carbon footprint is measured across Scope 1, Scope 2, and selected Scope 3 emissions. All reporting is prepared with support from Auditel as part of our ongoing Carbon Reduction Plan.
With annual reporting already in place, we can see year-on-year improvements in our performance, which helps us shape any future plans.
The increase reported in 2024 reflects the expansion of our reporting boundaries to include additional supply chain data within Scope 3 emissions. While the 2025 reduction shows the impact of carbon-reduction measures we’ve already put in place across the business.
After our current year-end, we’ll move to quarterly reporting as part of our Improvement Plan to give us greater visibility into our performance, accountability, and targets.
progressive is committed to being Net Zero in our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, while aiming for Net Zero across all emissions by 2050. We see these as realistic targets that line up with recognised reporting standards and national policy. And we’re on track to meet them.
Our Scope 3 reporting also continues to expand as supply chain data quality improves year on year. That work includes active engagement with our suppliers to support improved carbon data and reduction initiatives for better visibility across materials, transport, and delivery supply chains.
Looking ahead, we’re focusing on making some big changes in core areas. Our first steps include reducing fleet and fuel emissions, improving route efficiency, and making the move to clean, renewable electricity at our Exeter base. We’re also strengthening our waste management and hazardous materials handling processes across all our projects.
We know that improvement doesn’t happen overnight. But by measuring, reviewing, and making informed operational changes, progressive is creating a more sustainable way forward across the business year after year.
