It combines refined bitumen, synthetic rubbers and fillers, making it ideal for use on inverted roof systems, where it’s most commonly used. If combined with a suitable protective layer, hot melt roofing also works brilliantly on new-build flat roof applications.
At progressive, we apply the hot melt in two 3mm coats with a reinforcing layer sandwiched between them. Rigid insulation is then laid over the top of the membrane and weighted down with ballast, such as 20-40mm gravel, 50mm paving slabs or a green roof system. Hot melt can also be used for podium decks and substructure waterproofing.
